Top 3 Fly Fishing Mistakes (Ex-Orvis Fly Casting Instructor)

Top Mistakes
It’s fly fishing time!

Today’s Salt Strong fishing tip is presented by one of our Insider Club members (Joe Sherer), an ex-Orvis fly casting instructor who used to teach alongside Gary Loomis.

Joe reveals the top 3 mistakes that he sees most new (and intermediate) fly anglers making when they first start fly casting.

1) People pull the line back too slowly
2) They don’t pause when they bring their rod back (Pro-tip: the longer the line, the longer the pause needs to be)
3) People go back too far with their casts
